The owners of 2003 G41A #4 were interested in a remodel of their galley area after seeing the layout of the B model. The G41B model has a combined nav station and dinette on the starboard side of the boat. While it may be unusual to rearrange the entire midsection of a boat, the owner likes to cook and the G41A had significantly less counter space than the G41B layout. The design of their new layout is not an exact copy of the G41B layout but very close. The fridge/freezer was relocated from starboard to the area where the two-person dinette existed. The dinette was then combined with the navigation station on the starboard side.
This was a complete custom re-do requiring a new freezer box, freezer compressor (theirs was past its prime), and installation of a new two-drawer Isotherm fridge. The area above these two transformed into an extremely functional workspace that actually allows two people to be in the galley at the same time. The overall change added four new lockers for storage in the immediate galley area.
Combining the dinette with the nav station gave them a much larger dinette table where two people could comfortably eat or work on multiple computers at the same time. The usable space under the table gave them another locker below the table and a very large space under the table for storing charts and other navigational tools.
From the owners:
“We are absolutely thrilled with the new layout! Mike listened to what we wanted and then gave us options that made it even better than we could’ve imagined. The extra storage and counterspace have improved livability onboard. And the two-drawer Isotherm fridge, which was one of Mike’s suggestions, is wonderful!”
