SOLD Spring 2012 – 1986 G36A Hull #15 “Tara”

Still owned and lovingly cared for by her original owner, “Tara” has spent her entire career on Lake Michigan. She has been professionally maintained and stored in doors every winter since new. I had the opportunity to sail this boat last August personally and I can say she is in amazing condition for her age and we are very proud to be able to say “we built that”.

While very much in original condition, the owner elected to send her back to the factory for updating over this winter. The boat has been fully inspected (50 page report) and now that some minor repairs have been completed, Tara has now been structurally re-certified by the factory. Work included inspecting and rebedding the chain plates, decoring important deck penetrations, and updating (and improving) the compression post. The lightning ground and bonding system were also brought up to modern standards. Further work scheduled includes the complete replacement of the LPG containment system and replacement of the rub rails. Once complete, this boat will have no trouble receiving a completely issue free survey report which is outstanding considering the vessels age. We are confident there will be no surprises with this boat as we have gone over her in detail.

Contact us for more details on recent upgrades and her equipment list.

This boat is a true classic, and we intended to keep all the work period correct. The mahogany interior has obtained a patina that only 25 plus years of detailed care could achieve… and like a fine red wine, she is only getting prettier and better with age.
