Black Beauty has a striking black Awlgrip hull, she shows very well and is in above average condition for a boat of this age.
She features a cherry “A” interior with two heads with a shared shower to port and a full island galley to starboard. The forward cabin is normally configured as a living room with two swivel chairs and a built in entertainment center and easily converts into a private stateroom if you have guests staying over or a full 6 person dinette if you have company for dinner.
The coffee table opens for storage and becomes the base for a larger dining table stored behind the seat back. It supports the berths when they are swung into the center to form the island berth. The upholstery is ultra suede and features a bolstered block style.
The TV locker swings out for better viewing. When not in use it is closed and hidden behind a matching louvered door. There is storage for CD’s built in beside the TV. The swivel chairs also slide forward to allow use with the dining table; otherwise they slide back to increase foot room in the living room mode.
The galley features a two place dinette “breakfast table” forward with a full cutlery drawer under. An 800 watt microwave can be powered from the ship’s batteries by a built-in inverter when off the dock. The refrigeration system uses a front loading freezer and and top loading fridge out outboard and opposite the sink. The island has a sink and half with ample storage under and a swing out dish and pot locker at the forward end.
The nav station is aft of the galley to starboard beside the companionway. It can be configured with a seat back using one of the berth cushions (as shown) or as a sea going quarter berth. The nav table features hinged fiddles which can be lowered when not required. There is ample room for electronics expansion.
In addition to extra storage shelves there is a full size paper chart drawer located under the aft deck overhead.
To port and aft is the owner’s stateroom which features excellent ventilation including a skylight port that opens into the cockpit center pod. This provides a lot more light and is quite useful when off watch while under way.
The aft head is accessed from the aft cabin but also has access to the centrally located shower. The shower itself has a door into the main cabin and has a wet locker located outboard. The forward head is designed as the day head and for guests.
On deck you will find a full cockpit enclosure. There are also matching covers for the dorades and hatches to protect the varnish when required.
Black Beauty is a wonderful example of a well looked after Gozzard 44A. With full furling, properly sized ground tackle, a bow thruster, air conditioning and much more, she is ready to go “as is”.
